Will Kempe's Players perform Shakespeare's Measure for Measure at Mabee Farm
Measure for Measure is the 2026 WKP “less-often-produced” Shakespeare production. M4M is simultaneously hilarious and deadly as it depicts an imagined Viena, gripped by a sudden shift in law and custom. The beloved duke abruptly hands over authority to an austere puritan deputy, and all “Illegal” sexual contact become a beheading offenses. Complex humans, not stereotypical heroes and villains, scramble to save lives and (re) establish a healthy social order. Will the “brave new world” be governed by severe justice or grace and mercy?
Measure for Measure performances will be engaging for teen and adult audiences, but is not at all children’s theatre.Measure for Measure sketches an imaginary Viena, gripped by abrupt social change. Complex characters scramble to newly thrive. Adult themes and action.
