During this special guided walk, participants will join Tom Wessels to learn about the art of ‘forest forensics’ at Hand Hollow. Using ecological features and historical land use makers as guides, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the land’s past and a new way of seeing forests.
What’s involved: We will walk sections of the Beaver Byway trail, stopping often to discuss ecological features and historical land usage at different spots along the trail. The terrain on the Beaver Byway includes packed earth and exposed roots. Additional accessibility information will be provided closer to the event.
What to bring: Water, weather-appropriate clothing and footwear, and a way to take notes (i.e. camera, smartphone, or a journal).
What not to bring: Please, no dogs.
