Brenda Shufelt is currently the History Room Coordinator at the Hudson Area Library and will share current resources available in the library. Brenda was a teacher and librarian for 25 years in a public elementary school in Harlem where she created and directed the “Community Learning School Initiative”. Brenda received extensive training from the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Brenda’s program will focus on the Black Legacy Association of Columbia County (BLACC) collection. One of our own members, Sal Cozzolino, helped with the research for this wide-ranging project on Black history in the county. Brenda will also teach us about the available online resources. All attendees will receive a syllabus that was developed from the BLACC project. The public is invited. Refreshments will be served.
