Just in time for Halloween, come hear how legendary director F. W. Murnau’s silent horror classic Nosferatu sounded when it was first released in 1922. Unlike other silent film directors of the era, Murnau (Sunrise, Faust, The Last Laugh) shot this unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula on location, in the Carpathian mountains. He also made use of shadows and emerging techniques like negative exposure, stop-motion and low-angle camera positions, to give his sinister, taloned vampire Graf Orlok an altogether otherworldly presence on the big screen.
