An evening of merriment! On Saturday, January 6, 2024, Crailo State Historic Site will welcome visitors for our annual Twelfth Night Celebration. From 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. join us for a holiday Open House with Yuletide decoration, live music performed by the incomparable musicians Bells & Motley, hearthside cooking, cracking fires, 17th century inspired refreshments, bonfire (weather permitting) and other Dutch Albany traditions! In addition, bring a food donation to the event and be entered into the Friends of Fort Crailo raffle!
Then cross the river, where the celebration continues at Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site
with 18th-century inspired refreshments, live music and reenactors, and wassail toasts around the bonfire (weather permitting). Special Combination Admission to visit both sites: $8 adults/ $7 seniors and students/ $2 children (12 and under). Single site admission also available.
Twelfth Night, or the Feast of Epiphany, was one of the traditional holidays celebrated by the Dutch and English of 17th and 18th century New York. Falling on January 6th, Twelfth Night was the final holiday of the season, marked by unsurpassed feasting and revelry. We invite you to come and celebrate with us! Once part of the Van Rensselaer family’s vast landholdings, today Crailo tells the story of the Colonial Dutch inhabitants of Albany and the upper Hudson River Valley. Located at 9 ½ Riverside Ave in historic Rensselaer, the museum is open by appointment Nov – Apr.
