Fruit IPM for the home garden and landscapes

Registration is now open for the New York State Integrated Pest Management Program’s (NYSIPM) June 27 Annual Conference, “Fruit IPM for the Home and Landscapes.” The day-long conference, which will guide participants in how to incorporate fruit into home gardens and landscapes while sustainably reducing the impacts of pests, will be offered virtually and in-person, with morning presentations taking place at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County’s office in Voorheesville and lunch and afternoon guided tours being held at Indian Ladder Farms in Altamont. Dani Baker, author of “The Home-Scale Forest Garden” and owner of Cross Island Farms, will deliver the keynote address, “Native Food Plants to Feed Pollinators and People.” Additional presentations will focus on choosing plants, ensuring healthy soil, food forests, and on-site demonstrations on fruit and berry IPM concepts and examples, strategies for reducing weeds and tips for attracting beneficial insects. To register or for complete event information and an event agenda, visit http://go.nysipm.org/conference.
