B'nai Sholom Reform Congregation will present a screening of "The Sea," a joint Israeli-Palestinian project that “offers a rare and nuanced view of contemporary Israel through an outsider’s perspective, exemplifying a powerful collaboration between Jewish and Arab storytellers" (2026 Jury Prize, Miami Jewish Film Festival).
Khaled, a 12-year-old boy from a Palestinian village, sets out from the West Bank to fulfill his dream of viewing the sea for the first time, even though he doesn’t know the way nor speak any Hebrew. When his father, an undocumented laborer working in Israel, learns that Khaled is missing, he leaves his job in search of his son – risking arrest and the loss of his livelihood. This beautifully made film follows young Khaled on his innocent and heartfelt quest to fulfill his dream.
