The Schenectady-Saratoga Symphony Orchestra invites you on a journey where music becomes drama, passion, and poetry. Beethoven’s Overture to Egmont sets the stage with fiery heroism, while Richard Strauss’ Macbeth conjures Shakespeare’s tragic antihero in powerful orchestral colors.
The evening reaches its emotional summit when acclaimed pianist Philip Fisher joins the orchestra for Leonard Bernstein’s Symphony No. 2, The Age of Anxiety—a riveting, jazz-infused work inspired by W. H. Auden’s epic poem. From triumph to tragedy to a restless search for meaning, this concert promises an experience of extraordinary intensity and depth.
