EP release concert

Flutist Melanie Chirignan and pianist Melinda Faylor are very grateful to have been awarded an Artist in the Studio grant from the Arts Center of the Capital region to record an EP for their project “Subject to Change: Improvisational Compositions.” One of the tracks will include a video, taken by filmmaker Juan Luis Lopez Fons. The Duo has a unique process of taking elements of classical music and reimagining them into improvised compositions. Thanks to the Arts Center of the Capital Region’s Community Arts Grant, they will host a free EP release party with purchase of a museum ticket at the Albany Institute of History and Art on Sunday, September 15th from 2-4PM. The duo will perform in the gallery. A reception will follow in the Rice House. You may obtain a free museum pass from your local library. About the artists: Melanie Chirignan and Melinda Faylor's mission is to collaborate with other musicians and media to be artistically expressive. They believe strongly in innovation and commissioning, improvising, and premiering new music. As an artist their goal is to perform in non-traditional spaces to build community, speak about music, tell stories, and make music accessible to all.
