The Biking, Burgers, and Beverages event returns to the Albany County Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail for the second year, on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 5 – 7 pm, rain or shine.
Last year’s inaugural event drew more than 300 people to the trail between The Real McCoy and the Blanchard-Currey American Legion Post, in Delmar. According to Teri Spina, president of the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce, “In 2023, we were pleasantly surprised by the turnout as people from around the Capital Region joined us in Delmar. This year’s event will be even bigger because we are partnering with the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce to expand the event. There will be more food (including vegetarian) options, children's games, and music.”
“This event is featured as one of our premiere events throughout the year to drive tourism to the area and promote health and wellness among the community,” said Sandra Dollard, Executive Director of the Guilderland Chamber. “We look forward to partnering with our members to demonstrate the vitality of the area. Participants can attend and mark their Seasons of Guilderland Passport.”
Mike Miner is scheduled to perform at the Real McCoy, and the Steve Hallock Duo at the Blanchard Currey American Legion sponsored by Holcim and LiveWell Group.
Rooted + Rind and the American Legion are providing food and beverages at the Legion. Other food options include: Taj Fine Indian Restaurant, Little Piece of Heaven food truck, Kona Ice truck, and Stewart’s Shoppes at 309 Delaware Ave. is located along the Trail in Delmar.
The Scavenger Hunt is back again this year with the help of ART, Art on the Rail Trail and the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy. Youth can take photos of ART’s Amphibians and Reptiles along the Trail, as well as find “hidden” rubber stamps at participating vendor tents. Participants can stamp their booklet, available that night from the Bethlehem Chamber booths located at either end in Delmar, turn their completed booklet and receive a coupon for a free Stewart’s Shoppe’s single scoop ice cream, while supply lasts.
The Flow Riders will be demonstrating mountain biking for youngsters, and the Bethlehem Pedestrian Committee will have a bike safety and obstacle course set up at the Legion. There will be informational booths about safety, as well as activities such as “Winter in July” Corn Hole Toss sponsored by Schools Out Inc, and a drone demo by Sky Photos LLC.
Other participants include: Plushies by Chey, Sweet Tooth Confections, YMCA, Mad Dog Bikes, Savile Road, Steiner’s Ski and Bike, Elsmere Fire Department, Community Bank, Gabler Realty, Key Bank, LaChance State Farm Insurance Agency, and Warbler Brewery.
