Dancing Resilience: Climate Action and Live Performance

Panelists:

April Merleaux, Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Science
Lynn Neuman, Artistic Director of Artichoke Dance Company
Shanti Pillai, Assistant Professor of Theatre

Join us for a conversation about the relations between climate activism and live, embodied performance. What does it mean to dance resilience? How is hope to be found in the movements or expressions of performative assembly? What are the global impacts of theatre, dance, and assembly on policy shifts towards environmental sustainability at the community or state level? This interdisciplinary panel brings together artists, teachers, and activists to discuss questions related to the impact of the performing arts on climate action. The conversation will be open, free-flowing, and inclusive of the audience.

This event is free and open to the public. No reservations are required.

This event is generously supported by the Department of Theatre, the 1963 Sustainability Development Fund, and the Center for Learning in Action.
