Sacred Heart of Jesus - 151st Anniversary Mass
Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in North Albany. This Sunday, August 17th at 10:00am we are going to celebrate, with our Bishop presiding, our very last regularly scheduled mass on the weekend. Ironically, on The Feast Day of Our Lady of Knock, Knock Co. Mayo Ireland; as it was Irish immigrants who built the Church. The Church will lose its Sunday Mass exactly 151 years and 1 day later to its founding. It was created on August 16, 1874. Also, amazingly, somehow, the Parish is not closing. This is THE first model ever created in the Albany Diocese, perhaps even in the entire Country.
Although we are broken hearted at losing our mass, we remain open as a Parish. We can continue to hold Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals, Rosary, prayer services, the Food Pantry, fun events and service based community events, to name a few. We have decided to take this as a blessing and continue with our work in the hopes of the mass returning to us again. There is a large committee working very hard to ensure our future survival.
