EXPERIENCE ENCHANTING STORIES FROM THE BARN QUILT TRAILS
Bath Township, Ohio - The Discover Bath Barns Committee, a group formed to preserve and enhance the barns of Bath Township is continuing their summer speaker series with the goal of educating local residents on the importance of honoring the agricultural traditions of the area, especially the barns used to support those endeavors.
Noted author and barn quilt expert, Suzi Parron Smith, will be presenting "Following the Barn Quilt Trail" at the Polka Dot Pincushion's "Dot Spot", 3807 Brecksville Road, in Richfield on Tuesday August 13th at 7 PM. Equally educational and entertaining for barn owners and barn aficionados, this event is free, but reservations are required. Please visit http://bathtownship.recdesk.com/ to reserve a spot as seating is limited.
Suzi Parron Smith documented over 1,000 barn quilts in the process of writing her 2012 book, "Barn Quilts and the American Quilt Trail Movement". For her second book, "Following the Barn Quilt Trail", she left her job as a teacher and traveled by RV across the U.S. and Canada, travelling more than 13,000 miles to visit farms from coast to coast. Suzi will join the event from her home in Florida via Zoom to share stories of preserving America and Ohio's rich heritage - one quilt at a time.
"We are thrilled to have Suzi share her barn quilt trail experiences with us", said event organizer Maureen Katanic. "The original trail was created here in Ohio, in Adams County by resident Donna Sue Groves as a tribute to her mother who was an avid quilter. Since the very first trail started in 2001, barn quilts and quilt trails have grown in popularity across the rural landscape, including several here in Bath Township."
This presentation is generously supported by the Polka Dot Pincushion, America 250-Ohio, and the Bath Township Historical Society.
