Beyond the Music, 1 – 2 PM
“Beyond the Music: A Music Geography of Mexico Foodways Edition” is unique opportunity to journey through Mexico’s geography, food and culture with live Mexican folk music. Join two-time GRAMMY nominated Sones de Mexico Ensemble and award-winning chef Dudley Nieto, on a journey to explore Mexico’s geography through a musical and culinary experience. This event is free (see more information under open events). This program is sponsored in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Cooking Demonstration & Dinner, 2 – 4 PM
Chef Dudley will be utilizing our outdoor clay oven to make some of Mexico’s most iconic dishes like barbacoa, a traditionally seasoned beef with dried chilies and spices slow cooked for hours until perfectly tender. Participants will be given recipes for several dishes, a sample of some of our finest tequila, and will be served dinner as part of the class.
