2.2 for 22q Awareness Walk
Second annual 2.2 for 22q awareness walk honoring Jackson local Izzy Snow - diagnosed with rare genetic disorder 22q11.2 deletion syndrome. Parents, Summerly and Sterling, started a foundation in 2021 called my22qt (www.my22qt.com) with the mission to raise awareness, educate, help diagnosed families cope, and pay it forward to the genetics division of Akron Children's Hospital where Izzy spent 3 weeks as a newborn. The awareness walk will take place on Sunday July 28th, 2024 - 9 am starts registration in the North Park pavilion and the walk starts at 10. The walk is twice around the track totaling 2.2 miles; specially designed t-shirts available, lunch and desserts provided, and raffle baskets to be auctioned off. Last year was the first 2.2 for 22q walk and it brought in 138 participants and nearly $4,000 towards the cause.
