Curious minds of all ages are invited to the Aeronautics & Engineering Expo, a beloved Kent/Stow community tradition for more than two decades! Held at Kent State Airport and the FedEx Aeronautics Academic Center, this incredible one-day event brings the world of aviation and engineering to life for everyone, whether you're a lifelong aviation enthusiast, a student exploring future career paths, or simply looking for a memorable day out.
Take to the skies with an actual airplane ride, or get a feel for flight in one of our flight simulators. Watch live drone demonstrations, then head into the Drone Tent to pilot one yourself in a safe, indoor setting. Step inside our Mobile Command and Control Center to learn how advanced technology keeps unmanned aerial vehicles flying safely beyond the pilot's line of sight.
Meet Yimo, our robot dog from the Cognitive Robotics and AI Lab, and watch him perform tricks that showcase the future of human-robot interaction. Explore virtual reality flight simulations at our Extended Reality (XR) Research Lab station, and check out the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV), a student-built golf cart powered by fuel cell, solar, and battery technology. Watch a 3D printer in action at our Makerspace station and take home a custom Expo keychain, or stop by and meet one of our FANUC industrial robots.
Beyond the main attractions, more than a dozen student organizations and community partners will be on-site with hands-on activities for every age.
Guests will also have the opportunity to tour the Kent State Airport and FedEx Aeronautics Academic Center, getting a firsthand look at the facilities where future pilots and aerospace professionals train.
