Ukrainian Festival at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church

From the organizers: Get a taste of Ukrainian culture at the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church festival! The church will be hosting their annual festival on Saturday, June 27th, from 1-7 p.m.; celebrating their Ukrainian heritage and featuring traditional food, baked goods, handcrafted art pieces, a raffle, and much more. With more than two decades of hosting festivals, the 111-year-old church loves to share their culture with the community. Featured foods include perogies, along with kielbasa, holushki (noodles and sweet cabbage), holubchi (meat and rice stuffed cabbage roll), and more that are also available for taking home. Beyond dinner, the church offers a variety of traditional baked goods ranging from kolachi to torts. Attendees can listen to Ukrainian folk music and enjoy the many cultural items offered by the gift shop, including pysanki (decorated eggs), a longstanding and special Slavic tradition. Other features include a raffle, Ukrainian adult beverages, and plenty of kid-friendly activities. The festival not only promotes Ukrainian culture, but also welcomes people to the church itself. The mission of Holy Ghost Parish is to be, as Christ was, a vibrant living icon of God, the vision that inspires the life and ministry of this parish in Akron, Ohio, a church open to people of all ethnic backgrounds and social conditions..."we strive to make the Liturgy the heartbeat of our community and the source of our vitality."
