Accountability in Akron: A Discussion About Qualified Immunity
Qualified immunity has been in the news a lot over the last few years. But what is it really?
We will be discussing how this controversial doctrine makes it nearly impossible to hold government officials accountable, even when they knowingly violate a person’s rights. Most importantly, we will be sharing ways Akronites can have a real impact on government accountability in the community.
Attendees who make a purchase of at least $15 from Elizabeth’s Book Shop & Writing Centre will receive a FREE copy of Professor Joanna Schwartz’s new book Shielded: How the Police Became Untouchable, while supplies last. All attendees will receive an AAQI tote bag and stickers.
