The Ohio and Erie Canal
Two hundred years ago, construction began on the Ohio and Erie Canal, which once flowed through Barberton. While it may seem inconsequential today as we bike past it on the Towpath Trail, the canal grew economics and was the beginning of a national transportation system. Without the canal, this area would be vastly different.
