1in2 piano & violin duo performs at Glencairn Museum Jan. 24

Pianist, composer and arranger Jesse Elder and Colombian violinist Blanca Cecilia González perform an entertaining mix of original compositions as well as arrangements they’ve developed of pop, jazz and classical pieces.

Born of a great variety of contrasting musical styles and approaches, González and Elder have found a wealth of musical inspiration in their process of marrying elements of classical music with jazz, Latin, original compositions, various popular music styles and improvisation. Their live show is a perpetual work in progress, constantly evolving as they make new discoveries.

Doors open at 7:00pm. $20 general admission, $15 Basic Members/seniors/students with ID, free for Gold and Patron Members. Advance tickets available until 5pm 1/22 at the Museum or call 267.502.2990, or online. After 7pm 1/24 tickets available only at the door, subject to availability. Reserved seats for Patron Members only.

“When I started making music with Blanca,” says Jesse, “she helped me breathe life and meaning into the performance of my original compositions. They began to leap off the page as we explored and listened attentively to what it was these musical inventions longed for in their expression. Together we’ve created something truly unique and continually evolving.”

“Music is a universal language,” says Blanca. “It brings all sorts of beings together. From different languages, cultures, times and eras, thanks to music and its openness, we can connect on an inner and outer level beyond our understanding. It’s a gift and a right to resonate with each other.”

Jesse studied at Interlochen Arts Academy, Oberlin Conservatory and New School University; he currently studies with renowned musician and artist developer Vera Tisheff. Blanca began traditional conservatory training at age four and made her debut as a young performer on Colombian National Television at the age of six. She holds a B.M. from the Aaron Copland School of Music and completed her M.M. in violin performance at the Juilliard School studying with Lewis Kaplan.
