Lutheran Settlement House is excited to announce the 2016 MEN CAN campaign. MEN CAN is an innovative public awareness campaigned designed to engage more men to speak out against family violence in Philadelphia. The campaign culminates at our annual MEN CAN Rally and Award Ceremony, where we will be honoring Todd Carmichael, CEO and co-founder of La Colombe.
This year the campaign will feature a SEPTA bus campaign, social media photo challenge, happy hours, and other community events. The culminating rally is a call-to-action to end family violence through music, spoken word, and speeches, and each year Lutheran Settlement House recognizes one man who has exemplified the powerful role men can play in making our homes safer for everybody.
As one of the first domestic violence programs in Pennsylvania, Lutheran Settlement House's Bilingual Domestic Violence Program has provided crisis and prevention programming to families experiencing domestic violence for over 40 years. Today BDVP offers counseling for all individuals affected by domestic violence, coverage of the Philadelphia Domestic Violence Hotline, transitional housing for families displaced by violence, medical advocacy in four Philadelphia hospitals, and prevention services and education.
