Christmas with The Philadelphia Singers

The Philadelphia Singers will present their beloved holiday concert under the baton of Music Director David Hayes in conjunction with Concerts at the Cathedral Basilica. "Christmas with The Philadelphia Singers” will have performances on Saturday, December 13th, 2014 at 8:00pm and Sunday, December 14th, 2014 at 3:00pm at the majestic Logan Square location of the the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. The concert will feature The Singers' traditional candlelight procession, carols and holiday-inspired works, and conclude with a fun, family carol-sing. This performance will mark the opening of Maestro Hayes' final season with The Singers after twenty-three years of artistic leadership.

The Christmas performances will feature works which evoke the beauty and spirit of the season including Jennifer Higdon's 'Deep in the Night' and Alfred Burt's 'Six Carols.' The concert will also feature a brass ensemble to take advantage of the beautiful resonance of the Cathedral Basilica and Philadelphia's own Michael Stairs on organ. Brass musicians will be featured on 'In Ecclesiis' by Giovanni Gabrieli, Hans Leo Hassler's 'Verbum Caro Factus Est' and Daniel Pinkham's 'Christmas Cantata.'
