Philly Music Fest, a nonprofit music festival, has two goals: to showcase the local Philly music scene, and to support the next generation of Philadelphia musicians. In 2017, Philly Music Fest donated $15,000 to area music nonprofits, including North Philadelphia’s Rock to the Future.

Rock to the Future uses music education as the foundation for academic, emotional, cultural, and intellectual growth. MusiCore After School serves 75 students annually in grades 4 - 12 at locations in Kensington and Germantown. Through music, students build self-confidence, social preparedness, life skills, and the programs are completely free for underserved Philadelphia youth.

Greg Selzer founded Philly Music Fest to support and highlight the fantastic diversity in Philadelphia’s music scene. From headlining bands like Waxahatchee and the Districts, to up-and-coming musicians just finding their sound, the festival includes performers from generes as diverse as bluegrass, hip hop, jazz, and indie rock. Not content to simply highlight Philly musicians, Philly Music Fest seeks to work only with locally-owned venues, local breweries and distilleries, and local food spots like Federal Doughnuts.

The Philly Music Fest will take place on September 27-30 at Johnny Brenda’s, World Cafe Live, and MilkBoy on Chestnut. Support the Philly music scene, both today and in the future: tickets are available on the festival website http://phlmusicfest.com
