-orchestral music for comedies from 17th-century Europe with Maren Montalbano, mezzo soprano Nancy and Dick Eales Series at the Kimmel Center Part of Tempesta di Mare's two-season exploration of rarely-performed French orchestral music written for the theater, we will showcase music written for the first runs of comedies from England, France, Spain and Italy, with suites from Congreve's The Double Dealer by Henry Purcell, and Moliere's Le Malade imaginaire (The Hypochondriac) by Marc-Antoine Charpentier; songs from Llamosas' zarzuela Destinos vencen finezas (Fate trumps all plans), by Juan Francisco de Navas in their modern, new-world premiere, and from the commedia dell' arte intermezzo Colombina e Persicone by Francesco Mancini.
