Join us at SPTR Thursday evening, September 29th for a Fall Kick Off Party with Sterling Pig Brewery from Media, PA. Starting at 4pm we’ll have 5 Sterling Pig drafts pouring all night, including an exclusive real ale served bar top style. Chef Drew Ashmore will be creating some special dishes, riffing on some of the Sterling Pig Brewery food offerings (they do some super tasty BBQ!). Head Brewer Brian McConnell will also be on hand to chat & offer some insight into his brewing thoughts & methods. For the early birds Sterling Pig beers will be 1/2 price for happy hour from 4-6pm.
When we first tried the Sterling Pig beers we were impressed at how well crafted they were, especially from a new brewery that’s only been open for a year. Everything clicked when we learned brewer Brian McConnell has been making beer his life for 14 years now, brewing professionally at John Harvard’s Brew House and Rock Bottom in King of Prussia and winning a grip of medals from the Great American Beer Festival and Real Ale Festival along the way. Johnny-come-lately tech investors trying to cash in on the craft beer bonanza this is not.
Their Snuffler IPA (cascade, crystal, & citra hopped) quickly became one of our favorite summer beers, and when we tried their Pata Negra Schwarzbier (columbus & chinook) it just seemed like the perfect drink to ease into Fall with. We’re excited to bring some of their other styles (saison/double IPA/american style pilsner/hefeweizen) to South Philadelphia. Their commitment to doing the classics well is refreshing. So dust off those jackets, get ready for some crisp autumnal weather, and raise a glass to the changing of the seasons.
