Presented by the Mann & The Philly POPS Doors: 5:00PM Showtime: 7:00PM All Ages The Philly POPS presents the second annual Comcast NBCUniversal Memorial Salute at the Mann, a community concert honoring the American tradition of service on Saturday, May 27 at 7pm during Memorial Day weekend. In celebration of those who serve, all tickets to the concert will be provided free of charge. Particular blocks of tickets will be provided for veterans, active military, Philadelphia police officers, and firefighters – plus local students and Boy and Girl Scouts.

The United States Army, Navy and Marine Corps were established in Philadelphia by the Continental Congress over 240 years ago. Today, Pennsylvania is home to thousands of veterans. Despite this deep military history, Philadelphia had not previously had a high-profile Memorial Day event. Similar to the POPS’ annual Christmas Salute concert which kicks off the holiday season with a free concert for members of the military and first-responder communities, and the annual patriotic July 3 concert on Independence Mall, this Memorial Salute at the Mann speaks to the POPS’ commitment to serving those who serve through its Salute Series.

Known for his work on the big screen, small screen, and Broadway, acclaimed conductor Larry Blank will lead this year’s program with guest vocalists Doug LaBrecque — who famously played both The Phantom and Raoul in the Harold Prince production of The Phantom of the Opera — and Broadway’s triple threat Christina Saffran.

The Voices of the POPS — a professional vocal ensemble that frequently performs in Salute Series shows — will add a rich layer to the orchestra’s patriotic melodies. A particularly resonant rendition of Hymn to the Fallen will include the Philly POPS Festival Chorus, a 180-voice strong choral group under the direction of Chorus Master Jeff Kern, and several hundred School District of Philadelphia choir students. A true night to remember.

The Salute Series is made possible through the generous support of Presenting Sponsor Comcast NBCUniversal, of Pina Templeton, PARX Casino and the City of Philadelphia.

If you are 21 years of age or older and plan to consume alcohol at the concert, please be prepared to present proper I.D. There is no re-entry once exiting the facility. Picnics are permitted for this performance as a part of the Mann's Summer Picnic Series.
