ONE DAY ONLY! At this workshop, you will learn the basics of building a unique comedic character. You will craft a backstory, develop a character’s ‘voice,’ and learn costuming and other creative choices. You’ll leave this workshop with unique ways to rehearse as a character and perform it on stage!
ABOUT THE TEACHER
Gregg Gethard has been performing comedy for over 10 years and has developed a niche as Philly’s foremost “character comic.” Currently, he is best known for portraying “Financial Guru” Gregg Gethard, which he showcased at his sold-out “Money Talks” show at Good Good Comedy Theatre. Gethard has also appeared as a guest on The Best Show w/ Tom Scharpling and The Chris Gethard Show. Gethard has performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York, the Annoyance Theater in Brooklyn, QED in Queens and more. He has opened for or worked with comics such as Hasan Minhaj, Aparna Nancherla, Hari Kondabolu, Dave Hill, Shane Torres, Mary Houlihan and Brett Davis. In addition, Gethard produced the long-running “Bedtime Stories” variety and comedy show. Gethard’s other personas include Street Magician Jaykob Strange, The Emo NSA Agent, The Food Truck Mechanic and more!
