Breathe Deep South Jersey

Breathe Deep South Jersey was founded in 2004 and is the longest-running lung cancer walk in southern New Jersey. In its 14th year, the event continues to honor lung cancer survivors in the local community, remember loved ones lost to lung cancer, and provide hope to lung cancer patients and their families. Since its inception, Breathe Deep South Jersey has raised USD 750,000 for critical lung cancer research, education, and support.

Drourr familyAnn Drourr has served as the Event Coordinator for Breathe Deep South Jersey since 2015. She lost her husband, Bill, to lung cancer in November 2012, only two months after his diagnosis. Bill was a non-smoker and only 56 years old. Since then, Ann has been committed to raising awareness, building hope, and funding meaningful research in the fight against lung cancer.

'I am proud and honored to be working with LUNGevity once again to organize Breath Deep South Jersey. Not a day has passed since November 2, 2012, that I have not thought about Bill and the events of those short months that preceded his death. We lost Bill much too soon from a disease that robbed him of the very air he breathed. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend. If Bill was diagnosed now, I truly believe his chances would be completely different. We can't change the past - but we can and will change the future!'
