Notable VONA faculty participating in the tribute include Kiese Laymon, M. Evelina Galang, Beth Nguyen, Willie Perdomo, Elmaz Abinader, and Tananarive Due. VONA is joining the nationwide celebration of Brooks’ 100th birthday. She is the author of 20 books and was the first African-American to win the Pulitzer Prize. Special guest Quraysh Ali Lansana, Creative Director of Our Miss Brooks 100 will join the faculty on stage for a reading.
