Join The Philadelphia Singers and Philadelphia new music ensembles Relâche and Orchestra 2001 for a not-to-be-missed evening of premieres by three giants of the contemporary music world. Enjoy the world premiere of Persephone by Philip Glass, whose music and impact extends from the concert hall and opera house to the dance world, Academy Award®-winning films and popular music. Then, Pulitzer Prize®-winning composer Steve Reich explores the use of voice as a textural and harmonic focal point in the Philadelphia premiere of his moving You Are (Variations). The Philadelphia premiere of Laude 23 & 24from British composer Gavin Bryars’ Cycle Lauda Cortonese rounds out the program.
