So what is Monkey doing in America? Simply taking part in yet another Chinese production? Nohe is going to do his thing in the Endless Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania in a new production that will revolutionize and Americanize the use of contemporary shadow puppetry with 3-D masks and scenery and music by Chinese composer Liang Liang and American composer (and PA resident) Mary Knysh. The play remains faithful to the colorful and zany spirit of the original, but its biting satire will now be directed at American targets including politicians, health insurance, drug companies and sex.
