This Jazz It Up Philly songbird is sure to get you in the mood to, roll out the holly, hang the mistletoe, and will warm your heart with the songs of the holiday season.

Thomas Camarda ~ Founder, Jazz It Up Philly

Calli Graver has quickly created a versatile and steady career as a vocalist in Philadelphia. A native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Calli got her start in musical theater at the Fulton Opera House. Favorite roles of hers include Mary in “The Secret Garden” and Millie in “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” As a young singer, Calli traveled with American Music Abroad to various countries in Europe and participated in a musical exchange program in Japan. She moved to Philadelphia in 2010 to pursue her undergraduate degree in vocal performance at The University of the Arts. Her ambition to be a well-rounded and knowledgeable performer is evident in her dedication to the craft. She most recently sang with the Philadelphia Heritage Chorale for the musical festivities during the Pope’s visit to Philadelphia. This concert entailed a wide range of genre specific singing with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Aretha Franklin, Andrea Bocelli, and Juanes.

Calli’s experience as a choral singer is extensive. She has worked at various churches in Philadelphia and currently sings at First Presbyterian Church. Calli was the soprano soloist in the Philadelphia Wind Symphony’s 2012 opening season and performed the challenging role of Dido in “Dido and Aeneas” at UArts in 2013. Her voice lends itself to popular styles as well, singing background vocals for R&B group AndtheAnimals and Nashville singer Matthew Rineer. In 2014, she had the pleasure of performing in the “Ben FoldsOrchestral Experience.” Calli also has maintained a professional relationship with the Philly Pops and has sung for their concerts in various vocal configurations since 2011, working under Michael Krajewski and former musical director Peter Nero. After having toured Nero’s “Gershwin Tribute” in 2014, she realized a passion for jazz. Calli stayed at UArts and received her Master’s in Jazz Studies, performing a graduate recital and presenting her thesis on jazz vocal improvisation. She is a represented artist for Jazz It Up Philly, sings regularly with her own trio, and will be touring her concert of swingin’ holiday favorites this winter.

A dedicated and fearless young lady, Calli Graver insists that dreams don’t work unless you do, and she is honored to make music with the most talented professionals in the area. She has recently accepted a position at Lumberton School of Music in New Jersey, teaching voice and beginner piano lessons. She is also currently touring multiple Pops orchestra productions through John Such’s agency in New York City. Calli is grateful to her supportive family, as her passionate adventure in entertainment and making music continues!
